The Theory of Mind Research Center was founded by Professors Olga Liverta Sempio and Antonella Marchetti, is now directed by Professor Antonella Marchetti and is involved in research and the publication of scientific materials.

The Unit adopts a theoretical perspective that looks at affections, sociality and culture as fundamental elements for the psychological development of the person. The study of Theory of Mind skills therefore proceeds hand in hand with the study of other fundamental constructs or themes such as emotional awareness, decision making, reasoning biases, understanding of figurative language, neurodegenerative diseases that also compromise the neural circuits of social competence, the relationship with robotic artefacts (in particular social robots).
